Morocco’s Minister for Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, Leila Benali, held bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the 61st Munich Security Conference (MSC-2025), held in the Bavarian capital on February 14-16, 2025.
Benali held talks with the Secretary-General of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), Celeste Saulo, particularly focused on the sharing and valorization of experiences, the strengthening of early warning systems and the adoption of a more proactive approach.
The two leaders also discussed the development of the corridor concept in the energy sector.
In this respect, the Minister said that Morocco is the only African country interconnected with Europe in terms of energy, logistics and culture.
As a middle-income country, the Kingdom plays an essential role in the global energy transition, she stressed.
Benali also held talks with Saudi Arabia’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Member of the Council of Ministers and Climate Envoy, Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir.
The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the prospects of strengthening bilateral cooperation in several fields, mainly energy and sustainable development, in line with the High Guidelines of the two countries’ rulers, His Majesty King Mohammed VI and the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman Bin Abdelaziz Al Saud.
