Police officers in Tetouan thwarted, on Friday, on the basis of precise information provided by the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST), a trafficking attempt of 12,000 psychotropic tablets, a security source said.

This security operation in the city of Tetouan also led to the arrest of two individuals, aged 21 to 32 years, for their suspected connection to a criminal drug and hallucinogen trafficking network, the same source added.

The two suspects were caught red-handed, possessing and trafficking psychotropic tablets in a light vehicle, and the ensuing searches led to the seizure of 12,000 “Rivotril” psychotropic tablets and a sum of money suspected of being the proceeds of these criminal activities.

The two suspects have been placed in custody pending a judicial investigation supervised by the competent public prosecutor’s office, with a view to uncovering the ins and outs of this case and identifying any possible ramifications of this criminal activity.
